I will now be submitting Fleshbeast to
Dead By Dawn Uk 2009
Edinburgh International Film Festival 2009
Hull International Short Film Festival 2009The release of Fleshbeast has been put back to early 2009. This is due to my busy schedule, and lack of free time to organise the event properly give
n the short amount of time. Plus a little thing called Christmas is almost upon us all, so a New Year event will be better for everyone.
Wednesday 22nd October...well folks, Fleshbeast didn't make it into this year's NYC Horror Film Festival.
The feedback was
positive, but acceptance to the festival is based on votes...and Fleshbeast simply didn't get enough.
But it's not the end. There are still dozens more festivals to enter. Next up...Edinburgh "Dead by Dawn" 2009.
Monday 6th October - NYC Horror film Festival have confirmed that they have received the NTSC screener of Fleshbeast. They will be notifying entrants in mid October. There have been some difficulties in contacting the NYCHorror Film Festival to confirm that Fleshbeast has arrived.
I have booked in 'The Film Historian' Peter Dean to film an introduction sequence, exlusively for the film's premiere. This is hopefully going to be shot in a week or so.
The pick up shot has been...erm...'picked up' and edited into the final cut. The running time is unaffected and remains at 39 minutes.
I have now be
gun work on the supplementary materials for the Fleshbeast DVD.
Okay folks. The edit is...UN-locked. One more additional scene (all 6 seconds of it) is to be shot over the next week. This obviously won't make the NYC cut, although that was a screener, and therefore IF it is accepted I will provide the full UK version for exhibition.
From the outset, I have always adopted the principle "That'll do...won't do", as in not just settling for something that, perhaps, isn't quite good enough just because I couldn't be bothered to try a little harder. Consequently, the completion date was delayed, although I am pleased with the results.
September 25th - I have now submitted Fleshbeast to the NYC Horror Film Festival. Now it's time to play the waiting game. Their closing date is October 5th. Tick...tick...tick...
The final edit is now locked. It's d
one (phew)...maybe ;-) *See above
A few technical specs: Picture Aspect Ratio - 2:35:1 (PAL) / Audio - Dolby Digital 2.0
I'll be posting a 2nd trailer on the site over the next few weeks.
The BBFC has certificated Fleshbeast '18', for "Strong language, some sexual content and scenes of violence and gore"
I will be producing a small quantity of Fleshbeast merchandise. This will include T-shirts, mugs and posters. I will post images on the site when these are available
Sunday 14th September 2008...a great day in low-budget horror filmmaking history...Fleshbeast is complete. The edit isn't 100% locked but it's pretty much there. The final running time is 39mins approx (which is pretty damn close to my original estimate)
There's now a small selection of behind the scenes photographs in the Fleshbeast section (thanks to Mark for the piccies)
The final poster has now been released (shown above). This wil be the version that will now carry the film.
The technical issues with the sound mix for Fleshbeast have been overcome
UPDATE: The entry deadline for the NYC Horror Festival has been extended to the 5th of October. I'm hoping that this will enable me to finish the film in time for submission
Fleshbeast may be having its UK premiere screening at the Gloucester Guildhall. The venue can seat up to 120 people. Tickets will be free of charge but will be limited
Unfortunately, due to some technical issues, the release date of Fleshbeast has been pushed back until September, possibly October. This may affect its entry into the NYC horror film festival
Priniciple photography has been completed!
We finally made it!!! What I (naively) thought could be shot in one day (!) actually took rather longer than I initially anticipated. Principle photography commenced in October 2007 and finished on August 12th 2008. The first set (which took 2 weeks to construct) was destroyed in a vicious storm one Saturday night, which forced relocation to a 2nd set. (which was actually far more suitable).
Post production is in the last stages. Some ADR has yet to be recorded. Some sequences still need to be colour graded. The majority of the sound mix has been completed. The final mix will in 2-channel stereo. This is due to some technical issues, but also keeps Fleshbeast closer to its low rent, late 70's origins.
Fleshbeast will feature approx 60 visual FX shots, although this figure may actually be higher.

Okay folks...this is the 3rd...and final one sheet for Fleshbeast.

Filming has finished!
As of August 12th 2008 at approximately 20:12hrs principle photography has wrapped!

The initial UK one sheet for Fleshbeast has arrived.

One sheets are like buses...you wait ages and then two come at the same time.
This is the US/Canada one sheet.
